Preceded in death by her twin sister Jane Boggs, and sisters Ethel Root and Vera Hignite.∼Jean Parkinson, 92, of Midland died, Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She was born September 27, 1924 in Midland, daughter of the late Nathan and Eunice (Mapes) Boggs.
On June 22, 1946, Jean married Bryce Parkinson in Midland. After 47 years of marriage he preceded her in death in 1993.
Jean was an employee of The Dow Chemical Company for 28 years and was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Midland County Historical Society, and a life member of the Berryhill American Legion Auxiliary and the Chippewa Nature Center.
She is survived by three children, Pat (Tom) Meads of Silverthorne, CO, Dan Parkinson of Midland, and Margie (Don) Yokom of Rockford. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Meads of Portland, OR, Sadie LaCrosse, Andrea Parkinson and Danny (DJ) Parkinson all of Midland, Katie (Adam) Hotz of Cedar Springs, Kevin Yokom of Chandler, AZ, Peggy (Kim Slack) Yokom of Ann Arbor; seven great-granddaughters, Lucy Jean and Reese Hotz, Izell Ouderkirk, Chelsea Yokom Slack, Lanah, Anika and Julia Kelly; and one great-grandson, Devon Yokom Slack. In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by her twin sister Jane Boggs, and sisters Ethel Root and Vera Hignite.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Elder Lyle Hanson of Community of Christ Church officiating. Burial will be in Midland Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday from 5-8 pm and on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
