Alta Jane Boggs, 90, of Grayling, and formerly of Midland, passed away June 21, 2015, at Brittany Manor. She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Eunice (Mapes) Boggs. She was born Sept. 27, 1924 in Midland, and was a 1942 graduate of Midland High School.
After high school, she worked for Dr. Lee and The Dow Chemical Co., before moving to Fenton to take a job at Continental Die in Detroit for 23 years. She was active in ladies softball programs and played for the following teams: Donald Duck, Palmers, Reinshaws, Shaffer and Whipples. She also played semi-pro softball for IMA in Flint. She liked the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
She is survived by her twin sister, Ada Jean Parkinson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Root and Vera Hignite; brothers-in-law, Vern Root, James Hignite and Bryce Parkinson; and nephews, William Root, Robert Root and James Hignite.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Brittany Manor and the Heartland Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Jane. Also a special thanks to her friends Jan Opdyke and Robert Beatty, of Grayling.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Heartland Hospice, 1426 Straits Drive, Bay City, Mich., 48706.
