Shirley Ann (Becker) Rhoads, 79, passed away on January 18, 2017 at the York Hospital surround by her loving family. Shirley was born on August 26, 1937 in York County. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Becker) Brickner. Surviving is her husband of over 58 years, Philip R Rhoads, Sr.; her daughters, Tina M. Groff and Tammy M. Vaught; and her son, Philip R. Rhoads, Jr. all of York. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey L. Rhoads. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Jodi Seaks and husband, John, Jason Rhoads, Jessica Rhoads, Jamie Mayer and husband, Jordan, Nathan Rhoads, Nikka Wilson and husband, Russel, Jeffrey and Jon Dickens, and Cody Burk; and twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley retired from Pensupreme Stores as a Store Manager; she also worked as Deli Manager for Jay's Super Thrift Stores. She was an avid bowler and loved to play cards, she received many awards during her bowling career. She was a member of the York County Bowlers Hall of Fame. She was former President of the Reliance & Lincoln Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Life Member of the West York VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Life Member of the Reliance Fire Company, member of the Pleasureville American League, member of the Zion United Methodist Church since 1951, member of the church's Heart to Heart Group. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Road, York, with a Memorial Service starting at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at Zion Christian Life Center in the church. Rev. Bruce Fensterbush will conduct the service. Keffer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund.
