Born George A. Yeisly, he and his brother, Charles H. Yeisly, changed their last name to Leiser for reasons unknown.

No evidence has been found that George served in World War I, like his brother Charles. At 16, he was convicted of larceny and spent time in the Industrial Reformatory at Huntington, Pennsylvania. He was received on 3 Jun 1901; sentenced on 20 Jun 1901; with a maximum sentence 3 years.

George was married twice: first to Mamie B. Walter in 1906 (whom he divorced before his next marriage) and then to Hannah Donovan before 1918. He had two children by each wife:

With Mamie B. Walter:
— Mary A. Leiser (1907- 1984)
— Harry Allen Walter (1910-1960) [He appears with his mother's maiden name in the 1920 census, after she has remarried.]

With Hannah Donovan: [Separated between 1930-1935; when she is listed as living with daughter in Pittsburgh, PA]
— Margaret Marion Leiser (1918-2006)
— Harry George Bud Leiser, Sr. (1920-1979)

George Leiser was cremated and his ashes inurned with his brother Charles by his nephew (Charles' son) James Leiser.
