Rev. Donald M. Atkinson, 91, of Union City went home to be with the Lord 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at The Waters of Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday at The United Pentecostal Church of Star City in Star City, Arkansas. Rev. Paul Cagle will officiate. Burial will follow in the Leek Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at The United Pentecostal Church of Star City from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Pallbearers will be Andrew Cagle, Brad Buford, Larry Donald Atkinson, Ross Atkinson, Mackane Burchfield and Jack Beard.

Rev. Atkinson was born December 19, 1925, in Star City, Arkansas, son of the late Charles Chris and Irva Sanyard (Rupe) Atkinson.

He married Mary Kathryn (McGregor) Atkinson September 15, 1942. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2015.

Rev. Atkinson had served as a minister in the United Pentecostal Church of 60 years and was also retired from the United States Postal Service.

He is survived by one daughter and her husband, Mary and Rev. Paul Cagle of Union City; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry and Stephanie Atkinson of Stuttgart, Arkansas and David Atkinson of Cabot, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Tempie Buford and Andrew Cagle both of Union City, Monica Burchfield, Angie Williams, and Larry Donald Atkinson all of Springdale, Arkansas, Kelly Atkinson of Bentonville, Arkansas, Ross Atkinson of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Lori Sabin of St. Paul, Minnesota and Troy Atkinson of Auburn, Alabama; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Kay Atkinson; and two brothers, Rev. Charles Atkinson and Cecil Atkinson.
