Cecil Ray Atkinson,83,of Star City,died Tuesday at his home.Born Nov.13,1922,at Star City,he was a son of the late Charles Atkinson and Irva Rupe Atkinson.He was a 1941 graduate of Star City High School.He was a member of First Baptist Church at Star City and attended Star City United Methodist Church.He was a retired traffic manager for Levi Strauss and retired from the Star City Volunteer Fire Department after 36 years.He was also preceded in death by his brother,the Rev.Charles Mai Atkinson.Survivors include his wife,Martha Betty Vick Atkinson;a son,Dr.Robbie R.Atkinson of Pine Bluff;three daughters,Kathy Sue Bryan of Morrilton,Martha Jill Lassiter of Bentonville and Candace June Crow of Fort Smith;a brother,Rev.Donald Atkinson of Little Rock;12 grandchildren;and one great-grandchild.Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday,May 25th,2006 at Drake Cemetery in Star City.Memorial Services will follow at 2p.m. at First United Methodist Church at Star City with Scott Gallimore officiating.Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Service at Star City.The family will be at First United Methodist Church;s Family Life Center after the memorial service.Memorials maybe made to the American Lung Association or The First United Methodist Church of Star City.
