Rose Marie Hatch, 87, loving wife, mother and grandmother, returned to the open arms of her Heavenly Father on January 17, 2017 after a battle with breast cancer.

Rose Marie was born in St. George, Utah on February 13, 1929 to Leroy Christian Schank and Prudence Verona Cox Schank, the oldest of four children. She graduated as valedictorian of Fallon High School in Fallon, Nevada in 1946. Rose Marie served as student body president at Utah State. In 1950 she graduated with a degree in Home Economics with a minor in music and elementary education.

Rose Marie and Duane L. Hatch married on July 28, 1950 in the Logan LDS temple. Teaching was one of her many talents. She taught preschool, 3rd and 4th grades, and music to all elementary grades. At different times, she also taught Junior High and High School Home Economics and private piano lessons.

As a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Rose Marie served her savior willingly. She was an elect lady whose faith never wavered through the loss of three sons, and a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. Her musical gifts – vocal and instrumental – were shared lovingly as she served as primary music leader, choir accompanist and director, ward organist and music specialist. Along with her husband Duane, she served missions to Spain, Mongolia, and Eugene Oregon.

Those who knew Rose Marie marveled at her ability as an expert seamstress. Sewing all her clothing, including her own wedding gown was a life time pursuit. Her children and grandchildren benefitted from her talents receiving gifts of hand sewn quilts, down ski coats, warm slippers and apparel/outfits for blessings, baptisms, proms and weddings.

Rose Marie is survived by children Joel (Christine), Syracuse, Utah; Teresa (Paul) Robertson, Olympia, Washington; and Deanna (Kelly) Johnson, Farmington, Utah; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane and sons Brent, Walter, and Chuck.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Davis Creek LDS chapel, 825 South 50 East, Farmington. The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:40 prior to the services. Interment: Clinton City Cemetery.
