Wallace R. Newman, 88 of Chambersburg, passed away suddenly at home. He was born on May 11, 1928 in Shore Valley near Three Springs, Pennsylvania to Earl and Hilda (Black) Newman. He is a member of Chambersburg Bible Church. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot where he had served as leader in the natural resources division. Early in life he had worked in construction work for D.W. Miller in Huntingdon, and had driven truck for Hiriam Wible in Three Springs for about three years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, where he received the Purple Heart Medal. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing in Canada with family. His greatest love of his life was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Norma L. Baker Newman and their three children: Lanny N. (husband of Sonja) Newman of Fayetteville, Brian W. (husband of Helen) Newman of Chambersburg and Elizabeth A. (wife of Alan) Shew of Chambersburg. He has eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, and his furry granddoggie, Coco. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Isabelle Kough Duncan, and four brothers: Donald, Douglas, Larry and Jimmy Newman. Funeral services will be held Monday Jan. 16th at 1:00 PM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg with Rev. Gary Yoder officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
