Dec.23,1966-Funeral services for Henry Halbert, 83, of Palestine, who died Friday in Forrest Memorial Hospital, were held Monday in Stevens Funeral Home. Services were conducted by Rev.Benson Edwards and Rev.Clyde Hankins, with burial in Bell cemetery north of Palestine. Mr.Halbert had been in failing health for several years. He had been critically ill for eight weeks in the hospital. Born Dec. 6,1883, at Haynes, he was the son of Mrs.Emily Alice Davis Halbert and William Henry Halbert. A retired merchant, he spent most of his life in Palestine. His wife, Mrs.Gladys Gunter Halbert, whom he married in 1912, died in 1962. He is survived by two sons, James Henry Halbert of Palestine a Donald Halbert of Forrest City; six daughters, Mrs.Homer Carder of Harrison, Mrs.Vernon Higgins of Flint, Mich., Mrs.Cecil Ray Jones of Forrest City, Mrs.Richard Abel of Kingsport, Tenn., Mrs.Earl Cranor of Forrest City, and Mrs.Grace Woods of Canoga Park, Calif.; a sister, Mrs.C.A.Johnson of Paletine; and 22 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
