Felix S. Martin m. Ophelia Beaty, 1906, Galveston County, TX

Funeral services for Dr. Felix S. Martin, 67, who died at a local hospital at 9:15 p.m. yesterday, will be held at the residence, 2234 Liberty avenue at 3 p.m. Christmas day. Dr. J.H. Pace, pastor of first Baptist church, will officiate in the rites. A Masonic burial ceremony will be conducted at Magnolia cemetery where the body will be taken for interment. Doctor Martin, who had practiced in Beaumont since 1901, is an uncle of W.S. Martin, Port Arthur postmaster and Mrs. Robert Stafford and a brother-in-law of Mrs. Fannie Martin, all of Port Arthur. A native of Trinity, Texas, he came to this city after serving five years on the Mojave Indian reservation as a government physician. He had just completed his medical training in Barnes Medical college in St. Louis, Mo. He was one of the first physicians associated with the Magnolia Petroleum company's Mutual Benefit association. He is a Master Mason, Shriner, Arabia temple of Houston and a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Macabees. Surviving are his wife, the former Ophelia Beatty of Beaumont; son, Dr. James R. Martin of Houston, step-son, George Beaty of Shanghai, China; three sisters, Mrs. Will Bell of Trinity, Mrs. Burt Dyne and Mrs. Carroll Seale of Las Cruces, N.M. and a grandson, Edward Beatty of Shanghai.
