LAVINIA IRENE (Tootie) BOWERS, 96, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. Born July 20, 1920, in Chelsea, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Guy Gilbert Godlove and Ethel (Stouffer) Godlove.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her former husband of 40 years, Harold Eugene Bowers; two grandchildren, Robert Barnes III and Lora Welter; one brother, James Godlove; one sister, Betty Wolfensburger; and three nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Bowers was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren. She was formerly employed by the Hagerstown Rubber Co., Eastern Products and the Maryland Ribbon Co., where she retired in 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Deanna Gower Lindsay, Carolyn Smith; one son, Denny Bowers; one sister, Mildred Hawthorne, and a brother, Robert G. Godlove, both of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
