DIED
EBEL--John J. Ebel, 67, of 1717 21st Street, died Thursday night at Methodist Hospital in Omaha following major surgery.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus, the Rev. Charles Potocki officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Respects may be paid after 1 p.m. Sunday at McKown Funeral Home, where a scripture service will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
A Butler County native, he was born Jan. 29, 1907 in Bellwoood [sic] to Henry F. and Anna Smith Ebel. He was married to Eileen Oppliger at St. Joseph Church in Bellwood June 14, 1944. They farmed near Bellwood until 1967 when they moved to Columbus. Employed at Dale Electronics Inc., he was a member of the Eagles Lodge and St. Bonaventure Church.
Surviving him are his widow; Eileen; two daughters, Miss Delores Ebel of Omaha; Mrs. David (Charlene) Mees, Diller; two brothers Everett and Harold of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Alma) Birkel of Fullerton and Mrs. Peter (Olivia) Birkel of David City; and a grandchild.
He was preseded [sic] in death by his parents, and three brothers, George, Howard and Henry.
