Lena was the oldest of seven children born to E. W. "Bill" Hanes and his wife, Lilian "Lil" B. Miller. Lena was baptized at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Lutheran Church in Richton Park (Cook County), Illinois. She attended Joliet Township Schools in Joliet (Will County), Illinois. Lena was married twice. She first married Richard "Dick" G. Jenco; one of eight children born to John M. Jenco and his wife, Henrietta M. Cirhan. Lena and Dick celebrated their nuptials on July 18, 1953 at her family home in New Lenox (Will County), Illinois. The ceremony was officated by Reverend Bloesch, Pastor of St. Paul's Evanganical & Reformed Church in Richton Park (Cook County), Illinois. This marriage ended in divorce in July 1957 (decree in Will County, Illinois courts). There were no children from this marriage. Secondly, Lena wed M. F. "Max" Wedic; a son of Frank Wedic and his wife, Katherine. Lena and Max were married on September 29, 1958 in Watseka (Iroquois County), Illinois. It was a second marriage for both Lena and Max. They were blessed with two daughters. Sadly this marriage ended in divorce on February 14, 1964 (decree in Will County, Illinois courts). Lena then co-habitated with William R. Gardipe; a son of Bernard Gardipe and his wife, Viola Footshoot. Lena and Bill had a son. They departed ways by 1975. Lena had been a waitress, teacher's aide and a caregiver for seniors during her lifetime.
