Mary J. (Brands) Hammermeister, of Austin, MN was 72 years old when she passed away, at the Benedictine Health System in St. Peter, surrounded by her family. She was a 1962 graduate of Austin High School, and earned her associate degree from Austin Community College. Mary was united in marriage with Loren R. Hammermeister on April 9, 1966 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. They lived in Dexter for a short time before moving to Rochester. While raising their family of three girls, Mary worked for 20 years in the dietary department at Saint Mary's Hospital. They returned to Austin in 2008; they also enjoyed 30 years at their lake place on Lake Zumbro. Mary had many interests including, sewing, needle work, walking, baking, and camping. She most treasured time spent with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
