Daughter of Elias Denton Ijames & Nancy Frances Dennis. Wife of Homer Clay Myers, Jr. (ma. 1952).

Nancy Ann Ijames Myers passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at her home on the farm in Union Grove where she lived with her husband of 48 years, Homer C. Myers Jr.

She was born Sept. 9, 1930, to Denton and Nancy Dennis Ijames. She grew up in Davie County along with her sisters, Letty Ijames Hinshaw of Boonville and Betty Ijames George of Westfield and her brother, Dennis Ijames of Mocksville.

She was a 1947 graduate of Mocksville High School in Davie County. She graduated from Mars Hill College and the University of NC at Greensboro with a bachelor's degree in home economics. She received her master's degree from NC State University in adult education with a minor in housing. Nancy retired in 1985 after 32 years as an Iredell County home economics extension agent. She was honored by her peers with a State and National Distinguished Service Award for her expertise in assisting families improve life skills.

Nancy and H.C.'s children are Barry C. Myers and wife Maryjane, Tony G. Myers, Frances M. Cantrell and husband Marvin and Mary M. Barbour and husband Erskine. They have 12 grandchildren.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and Union Grove's Extension Homemakers Club. Nancy's home was always open, and her table always spread with food for any and all who stopped in. Nan Nan was a devoted, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to so many people.

The family would like to thank Northern Hospice of Surry County for their assistance in allowing us to keep Nancy at home during this brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dennis J. Shaw and the Rev. Eugene Burris. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour and interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Friday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and other times at the residence at 3432 Buck Shoals Road, Union Grove.

For those who prefer, memorials may be given to Zion Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, 714 Union Grove Road, Union Grove, NC 28689.
