Franklin Evening News, Friday, Sep 9 1898:
Death of Jackson Seaton
This well known citizen died at 10 o'clock last night, Sept. 8, at his home in Sugarcreek, near this city, in his 79th year. All who knew him will sigh to learn that "Jack" Seaton is dead. He was a square, upright man, with the best and most pleasing traits in his composition. In his death, the county loses a useful and respected citizen, and his friends sustain a loss that cannot be replaced. He was kind and sympathetic to the last degree, and thus his passing away touches many hearts.

He was born in Franklin July 9, 1820, and was thus just past his 78th birthday. He was the youngest child of Thomas and Elizabeth Seaton, and spent the early years of his life upon his father's farm about two miles above Franklin on the banks of French Creek.

On June 19, 1845, he married Rebecca Lock of Franklin, sister of Rev. James Lock, the Methodist minister, who preached in Franklin for some years, and whose death om Tuesday last was but recently announced. Mr. Seaton for many years lived upon his farm in Sandycreek township, where he raised a family of seven daughters and one son, all of whom are married, with and with his widow survive him. He was a brother of Mrs. Judge Lamberton of this city, and Robert Seaton of Orangeville, OH, who is present to attend the funeral, which will take place from the residence on Sunday next at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
