Helen M. Freeman, 88, died Dec. 23, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born May 14, 1928, in Atchison, to John and Leotta (Best) Snyder.
Helen graduated from Atchison County Community High School, Effingham, in 1946. She was a homemaker and baker for USD 308 for 13 years.
On Nov. 14, 1948, she married Roger M. Freeman in Atchison. He died June 22, 1978. Helen is survived by: children, Susan Brown and husband Steve of Hutchinson, Sandy Rauschenberg and husband David of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., Bruce Freeman and wife Lisa of Overland Park; nine grandchildren, Sam Brown and wife Jamie, Sarah Voth, Don Freeman and wife Anna, Carolyn Potter and husband Jonathan, Claire Freeman, Allison Shockley and husband Tyler, Carlton Rauschenberg and wife Sara, Abby Bradburn and husband Daniel, Lindsay Taylor and husband Kevin; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, John and Orren Snyder; and son, Mark Freeman.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jim Rhaesa officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
