Rachel was born 25 Feb 1855 to William Greenwood, and Alice Beardsworth Houghton. She married William Wallace Hunter on 19 Oct 1874 in Salt Lake City.

They had fifteen (15) children: Laura Greenwood Hunter (1875-1878), William Greenwood Hunter (1876-1877),Earnest Greenwood Hunter (1878-1953), Lafeyette Hunter (1879-1879), Edward Greenwood Hunter (1881-1891), Wallace Greenwood Hunter (1884-1963), Joseph Greenwood Hunter (1885 - 1971), Alice Greenwood Jensen (1886-1974), Albert Greenwood Hunter (1888-1947), John Greenwood Hunter (1889-1973), Rachel Dora Floyd (1890-1973), Ida Greenwood Hunter (1893-1914), David Coffman Hunter (1894-1970), Clara Greenwood Crittenden (1896-1960)and Madia Greenwood Hunter (1899-1902)

AMERICAN FORK--Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Greenwood Hunter, 79, Utah native and widow of William Hunter, will be conducted Sunday at 2 p. m. in the American Fork Second L. D. S. ward chapel by Bishop Joseph H. Storrs.

Mrs. Hunter died in Los Angeles, Cal., Thursday night of a heart attack while visiting a daughter, Mrs. J. H. Crittenden.
Friends may call at the family residence in American Fork Sunday from 10 a. m. until time of services. Burial will take place in the American Fork cemetery.
Mrs. Hunter, an active L. D. S. church worker, was born in American Fork, February 23, 1856, a daughter of William and Alice Houghton Greenwood, early Utah pioneers. Her father was the first school teacher of American Fork and one of the surveyors who helped lay out the town.

Surviving are nine sons and daughters: Dave Hunter and Mrs. E. A. Jensen, Salt Lake City; Ernest Hunter, American Fork; Wallace Hunter, San Francisco, Cal.; Joseph Hunter, Burlingame, Cal.; Albert Hunter, Chicago. Ill.; John Hunter, Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. W. H. Floyd, Tooele; Mrs. I. H. Crittenden, Los Angeles, Cal.; a brother, Samuel Greenwood, American Fork; a half-brother, Owen Greenwood, Montana; two half-sisters, Emily Webster, Los Angeles, and Lottie Hansen, Palo Alto, Cal.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p. m. in the American Fork Second ward chapel. with Bishop Joseph H. Storrs officiating. The body may be viewed from 10 a. m. until time for the services Sunday at the family residence. Interment will be in the City cemetery under the direction of Anderson Brothers' mortuary
