Gene Scott Barfuss

Gene Scott Barfuss, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Ogden Regional Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1929, in Tremonton, Utah, a son of Charles and Winifred Barnes Barfuss.
On February 14, 1949 he married Hazel Dean Colton; their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. They were happily married for sixty years. They lived in Pleasant View most of their married life, living in Roy for the past seven years.
Gene was an active member of the Monte Vista Ward, where he held many positions in the church. He loved going to the temple.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He loved to work in his garden, enjoyed camping with his family and spent many days travelling with his wife. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his children, Greg (Jolene) Barfuss, Wes (Judy) Barfuss, Peggy Jo (Gary) Kiesel, Jeff (Christin) Barfuss, daughter-in-law Jolene Todd Barfuss, 2 grandchildren, 23-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 brothers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son, Dwight, 2 grandsons, great-granddaughter, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., in the Monte Vista Ward, 3845 South 2000 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, from 9:00 – 10:40 a.m., prior to the services at the church.
Interment in the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
