Don V. Johnston, 76, of Creston, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.
Don Vernon Johnston, son of Leah Mae (Antisdel) Johnston and Carl W. "Mike" Johnston, was born Jan. 11, 1931 in Adams County, Iowa. He was graduated from Prescott High School in 1948. On Dec. 3, 1950, he married Betty M. Shiflett at the First Baptist Church in Creston. Don farmed 51 years in the Corning and Creston areas. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Johnston of Creston; three sons, Don V. (wife Jennifer) Johnston, Jr. of Grinnell, Terry L. (wife Julianne) Johnston of Parkersburg, and Dallas E. (wife Kim) Johnston of Lenox; three daughters, Pamela M. Lininger of Creston, Susan K.(husband Dennis) Marx of Creston, and Sandra R. (husband Kurt) Pearson of West Des Moines; 22 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Max M. (wife Kae) Johnston of Creston; a sister, Lola (husband Donald) Baucom of Creston; a brother-in-law, Jack E. (wife Ramona) Shiflett of Afton; a sister-in-law, Janice M. (husband Willard) Fain of Afton.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, father & mother-in-law, Charles & Carrie Shiflett, and a granddaughter, Adrianna H. Johnston.
