Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Creston. Pastor Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate the service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
Open visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Lola Mae Baucom was born October 1, 1928 in Bridgewater, Iowa to Leah Mae (Antisdel) and Carl Wellington Johnston. She grew up in Bridgewater, graduating from Bridgewater High School in 1946. After graduation, Lola got her teaching certificate and taught four years at a country school in Adams County. She then went to Northwest State College in Maryville, Mo and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1954. Lola taught for five years at Pacific Junction, Shenandoah and Tipton Schools.
While in Shenandoah, she met Donald Baucom. On June 20, 1959 she was united in marriage to Donald D. Baucom in Creston, Iowa. They settled in Creston where she was a homemaker and did housecleaning.
Lola was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creston and was active in Riley Circle and past President of Women's Missionary Fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald in 2013 and her brother, Don Johnston.
