Mary Ann Medlock


Services to honor and celebrate the life of Maryann Medlock will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2015 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Maryann passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at a local hospital. She was 77.

Maryann Murdock was born January 17, 1938 in Okay, Oklahoma the youngest of nine children to John Allen and Nellie Blanche (Higgins) Murdock. She was reared and educated in nearby Coweta where she enjoyed playing clarinet in the school band.

Maryann married at a young sixteen years of age. On July 3, 1954 she and William Medlock married in an Oak Grove, Oklahoma Holiness Church ceremony. To this union three children were born: William Keith, Gary Dwayne and Debra Ann.

As her children were being raised, Maryann worked in the cafeteria of their elementary school, participated in the Parent Teacher’s Association and served as a den mother in the cub scouts. She also worked at Silver Dollar City when she lived in Branson for a time.

A wonderful mother, Maryann loved to care for her family. She was a wonderful cook and often prepared their favorite meals. She was known as a kind and generous person who was always thinking of others.

This loving mother, sister and friend will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.

Maryann is survived by her children William Keith Medlock and wife Kathy, Gary Dwayne Medlock and Debra Ann Medlock-Steffens; sisters, Bonnie Jean Braun and Betty June Brunetti; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings John Murdock II, Dollie Woffard, Victor Murdock, Nellie Puckett, Joe Murdock and Louis Murdock.
