Joseph "Joe" A. Murdock, age 89, life-long resident of Coweta passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013 at this home in Coweta, OK. Joe was born on March 12, 1924 in Coweta, OK and was the son of John A. and Blanche (Higgins) Murdock. He was a graduate of Coweta High School. Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he received the Purple Heart. He enlisted in the Army on February 11, 1943 and was honorably discharged on August 17, 1945. Joe and Opal Culp were united in marriage on December 7, 1953 in Van Buren, AR. Joe worked at the United States Postal Service in Tulsa, OK as a Maintenance Supervisor for 26 years until he retired in 1986. Joe was a member of the Coweta American Legion #226, the Disabled American Veterans in Coweta, the Coweta Masonic Lodge #251 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Broken Arrow. Joe enjoyed camping, traveling, wood working and doing yard work. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Blanche Murdock, 2 brothers, John Murdock and Victor Murdock and 2 sisters, Nellie Puckett and Dolly Woffard.
