Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Rotan with Bros. Perry Hunsaker and Corkey Wells officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born August 27, 1911 near Itasca in Hill County, Vera was a daughter to the late James Field and Sara Tex Anna (Little) Adams. Vera came to Rotan when she was six years old. She attended school in both Rotan and the Dowell Community. She married Ruple Morrow on December 25, 1926 in Rotan. Vera was a homemaker and later opened "Vera's Gift Shop" in 1968 and operated it until 1981.
She loved flowers and had several hobbies, crocheting, sewing, painting, playing bridge and traveling. To her family Vera was the best grandmother and a wonderful cook. She also belonged to many organizations, National Daughters of the American Revolution, Jamestown Society, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the Confederacy, First Families of Virginia, Daughters of 1812 and the Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century. Vera was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Annie and Virgil Weems of Rotan; four grandchildren, Ruple Weems and his wife Rhonda, Catherine Weatherman and her husband Lawrence, Annette Leach and her husband Earl and Carolyn Hargrove and her husband Jim; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and the entire Parker family whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Weathersbee - Ray Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Rotan Centennial Celebration or a charity of their choice.
