"Clare Raymond Benson is the name that I put on my birth certificate when I obtained it at age nineteen as I enlisted in the U.S. Navy. When I was born, I was named
Raymond Clare Benson. Early records of my life and on all church records show my
name as Raymond Clare. This means that I now have two names.
I also have two possible birthdays. My parents records and their belief was
that my birthday is 5 March, 1933. My baptismal certificate as well as my birth
certificate, which was applied for when I was nineteen and joining the U.S. Navy,
show 5 March 1932. I have used the date of 1932 on all documents that are important
since I discovered the discrepancy. I have accepted 1932 as the correct date."

Clare worked for Glendale Builders Supplies, C & C Materials Company. He was employed by U.S. Lime Company and promoted to General Manager. During this time, he was elected to be President of the Arizona Masonry Guild.

I was a Dodger fan as a kid and ached to go see the Dodgers when they moved to LA in 1957. Clare told my dad he would take us to a game. Dad, my brother and I drove to Los Angles and I went to my 1st major league ball game in the the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. A night in 1959 never to forget! Would you believe it only cost $2.50 for a reserved seat on the 3rd base line.

Clare married Ruth Eliza Williams in 1974 and they moved to Canyon Country,CA.

Clare and Ruth retired and built a home in St. George, Utah. Clare was a devoted husband, father, and service minded man who was very aware of all in need and went above and beyond to give help wherever needed. Clare was a great example of what an uncle out to be.
