A memorial service was held in Houston for Helen Lois Broughton Wilkinson who died May 17, 1995 in a Houston hospital. Her body was cremated and the ashes scattered along the shores of Nassau Bay where she had loved to wind surf.
Helen was born in Palestine on October, 26, 1924, to Oscar O. and Maybell Wilkey Broughton.
She was a graduate of Palestine High School's Class of 1942.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Guy M. Broughton. After Guy's death, Helen and her husband, Dale, adopted his son, Steve, whose mother was deceased, as well.
Mrs. Wilkinson is survived by her husband, Dale Wilkinson; son, Steve Wilkinson; daughter, Linda Stark; brothers, Oscar Broughton Jr. and Ted Broughton; sister, Rubye Trigg; and five grandchildren.
