Henry Clifford Clark, Jr., dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 in Spanish Fork, Utah. Cliff was born March 16, 1929 in Benjamin, Utah to Henry Clifford Clark, Sr. and Mary Iola Ashby Clark.
He married his eternal sweetheart, Clara Lee Peterson on September 5, 1952 in the Manti Temple. They are the parents of four children, 21 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. Caring for his wife and family was his highest priority.
He attended Spanish Fork High School, graduating with the class of 1947. He attended BYU where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. He continued his education at Long Beach State and received his Masters Degree. He also completed a PHD at Brigham Young University. He began his career as the first principal at Wilson Elementary in Payson, Utah. He then taught at the Church College of Hawaii, now known as BYU Hawaii. He later was a professor at Weber State College and The University of Northern Colorado. He completed his career returning to BYU, where he earned the Favorite Teacher Award for eight consecutive years.
Cliff enjoyed spending time with family at the cabin, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed building houses and riding motorcycles, but he especially loved long road trips with his children and grandkids, teaching them of the historical sites throughout America. The boys and grandsons were also able to enjoy a safari in Alaska with him. They made wonderful memories as a family which they will always treasure.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he contributed in many capacities. He served three missions for the church, first as a young missionary to North Carolina, and later with his wife to Louisiana and also in the Institute program at UNLV.
He is survived by his children, David (Nan) Clark, Leesa (Gary) Price, Kent (Merrillyn) Clark, and Steven (Nancy) Clark; siblings, Carol Francis, Jack Clark, James Clark, and Paul Clark. He also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, who adore him. Cliff was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Lee, on November 28, 2012; his parents; and a sister, Joanne Clark Fenner.
