VERLIN "LEFTY" DICKS
Memorial services for Velin Lefty Edward Dicks were held March 1, 1999, at the Villisca United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Beard officiating. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery.

Verlin Lefty Edward Dicks was born November 30, 1937, in Carbon, Iowa, to Robert James and Mary Jeanette Case Dicks. He died February 24, 1999, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska.
He moved with his family to Corning, Iowa, in 1940, and graduated from Corning High School in 1956. He entered the U. S. Army in 1956, and was honorably discharged in 1959.
He married Beverly Joyce Weaver in 1960. He was employed by the Omar Bread Company, Sierp's Oil Company, and in 1962 he was employed by the C.B. & Q Railroad, which later became the Burlington Northern. He worked with the railroad for 32 years, and was a supervisor of work equipment out of Lincoln, Nebraska from 1984 until his retirement in 1994.
He was preceded in dearth by his parents; four infant sisters, Dorothy, Carol, Janet, and another baby girl; two brothers, Edwin and Virgil; infant daughter; sister, Roberta Rurode; brother, Victor Williams Dicks; and four brother's in law.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Villisca; daughters, Cheryl Lynn Dicks, and Susan Leann and Andrew Josephson, Red Oak, Iowa; brothers, Vernon and Sandy Dicks, Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Vincent and Patti Dicks, Minot, North Dakota; sisters, Helen Still, Omaha, Nebraska; Jeanette Kelly, Corydon, Iowa; JoAnne and Dave Farmer, Crooks, South Dakota; and Sharon and Larry Gile, Creston, Iowa; sister-in-law, Twylla Dicks, Nodaway, Iowa; also nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Villisca Rescue Unit or St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska.
