Elizabeth is the second child of Thomas Quarles and Hety Martin Quarles, married May 8, 1832, Hall County, Georgia. She has an older sister Mary Caroline Quarles born January 13, 1833, Hall County, Georgia. It is believed Hety died before 1840 when Thomas and his two little daughters are found at Round Prairie, Marion County, Arkansas.

Elizabeth married John Cox, son of Jesse Cox, Jr. and Kisiah Norris Cox. John is also a younger brother to her father's second wife Rebecca Cox Quarles.

The children on John and Elizabeth--

1)Henry Thomas Cox, born April 17, 1854, and died January 14, 1931, Exeter, Tulare County, CA.

2)Rebecca Caroline Cox, born November 28, 1856, and died October 5, 1947

3)Jesse Edward Cox, born January 21, 1859

John Cox, born June 15, 1829, died July 8, 1861 with Union troops in northwest Arkansas during the Civil War.

After John's death sons Henry and Jesse lived with Elizabeth's father Thomas Quarles and family. Daughter Rebecca Caroline was raised by her father's twin sister Sarah Cox and her husband James Woody. They joined a wagon train in 1873 to Waitsburg, Washington where they lived the rest of their lives.
