He was born Dec. 19, 1952 in Newport to the late John W. Sr. and Vivian (Jamison) Cox.
He was a lifetime member of Newport Social Order of Owls.
Surviving are his wife Florence (Fry) Cox; four daughters, Tammy Campbell, Amy Cox, Mindy Wright and Valerie Cox; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Park "Titch" Cox and John W. "Cookie" Cox Jr.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Natalie Whitekettle, and a brother, Ronald "Gummy" Cox.
Services were held Feb. 7 in David Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with pastor Mary Kay Miller officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
