Begay was born into the Salt People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Begay was a homemaker. Her hobbies included rug weaving, sheep herding and horseback riding.
Survivors include her sons, Robert J. Begay and Paul J. Begay of Twin Lakes; daughters, Linda K. Begay, Kathryn B. Sherman, Elsie Begay of Twin Lakes and Minnie Begay of Church Rock; brother, Glenn Livingston of Church Rock; sister, Irene James of Twin Lakes; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Begay was preceded in death by her husband, Nakii Begay Jr.; parents, Bitsnilbah and Leonard Livingston; and brother, Tom Long Livingston.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Yazzie Jr., Ernest Gurber, Gabriel Begay, Julius Sandoval, Ricky Begay and Elton Jones.
