Herbert Clifton Sisk, 94, of Leon passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Mountain View Nursing Home. He was born on July 26, 1922,in Nethers Mill, Va. to the late Perry Washington Sisk and Fenton Lou Nicholson Sisk.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lida Mae Woodward Sisk; a daughter, Daisy Mae Sisk; brothers, Grover, Oscar, Lester, Robert, and Layton Sisk; and sisters, Gertie Smith, Ruthie Dodson, Anna Nicholson, Mattie Shifflett, Mary Peacher, Helen Sisk, Alice Shifflett, Della Sisk, Murtle Sisk, Stella Edwards, and Ida Mae Nicholson.

Mr. Sisk was a deacon for 40 years and member of Thoroughfare Bible Church and was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and logger.

He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Ann Hale and husband, Ed of Leon and Donna Ree Hixon and husband, Wayne of Stanardsville, Va.; two sons, Johnny Lee Sisk and wife, Janet and James Lewis Sisk and wife, Mary Lee, all of Leon; one sister, Ella Edwards of Culpeper; grandchildren, Jason Sisk, Jeremy Sisk, Virgil Sisk, Jacob Sisk, Christian Hale, and Stuart Hale; 16 great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Thoroughfare Bible Church with interment at the church cemetery.The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.Pastor Perry Utz will officiate.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Thoroughfare Bible Church, 3823 Thoroughfare Road, Culpeper, VA 22701.
