He was born January 8, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa to Homer and Thelma (Fisher) Bangert.
Surviving are his half-sister, Tara Wallace of Maryland and half-brother, Ritch Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, David.
Gary farmed with Clarence Schlipf in rural Carlock for over 30 years. He always had a ready smile and seemed to notice everyone that passed by on the road. He loved to camp and fish. He was willing to bale hay and was a hard worker in any type of weather. He had pet names for all those he cared about.
A funeral service for Gary will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton, with Apostolic Christian Faith ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
