Audrey Jean (Dean) Spitzer, 89, a resident of Keezletown, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Spitzer was born Oct. 14, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Peter A. Dean and Madeline Smith Dean.
She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Christian Church.
Surviving are her children, Donald Spitzer and Barbara Spitzer, Linda Hodge and husband, Gary, Sharon Meadows and husband, Edwin, Diane Lambert and husband, Dennis, Debbie Brumfield, and Daryl Spitzer and wife, Tammy; a son-in-law, Gene Sly; a sister, Bonnie Ray; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews; and a special angel, her caregiver, Rebecca Layman.
Mrs. Spitzer was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelby Sly; a grandson, Donald Spitzer Jr.; a son-in-law, Donald Brumfield; and her siblings, Shirley Dean, Mildred Dean, Norman Dean, Leon Dean and Marvin Dean.
The Rev. Al Landes and Pastor David Robichaud will conduct a funeral service Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at the New Hope Christian Church at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
There will be no formal visitation. However, friends and family are welcome to call at the funeral home on Saturday or at the home of Debbie Brumfield, 2924 Layman Trestle Road, Harrisonburg.
