Geneva Bishop, 88, of Owenton, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Owenton Manor. Born May 29, 1920, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Desmus and Ida Smith Baker, the widow of Howard Bishop, Sr. and was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Lynn Bishop, five siblings and her brother in law, C.W. Bishop. Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Long Ridge Baptist Church where she was the custodian for many years. She was a grocer for True’s Grocery, Owenton Grocery and A & A Grocery and was also an avid gardener. She is survived by her son, Howard (Bessie) Bishop, Jr. of Owenton; her brother, Carvin Baker of Warsaw; two sisters, Eunice Jackson or Walton and Addie Frances Baldwin of Lexington; five grandchildren, Lucinda (Ricky) Wilhoite, Randy Alan Bishop, Luci Kaye (Steve) Grubb, Letha (Nate) Lowe and Jodi Noelle Bishop; and nine great grandchildren, Kendra and Brad Wilhoite, Drew Mason, Michael and Lindsey Grubb, Lauren and Logan Lowe, Tim Hadden and Jace Bishop. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Sunday, January 18th, from 2-6 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11am Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery with Bro. Jesse Bourne, Bro. Matt Dye and Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund Dallasburg Baptist Church Building Fund or the Owenton Manor Activities Fund
