Charlie Simpson, 62, died Monday, June 8, in South Williamson Appalachian Hospital. Mr. Simpson was born March 12, 1919 in Johnson County, the son of Sam and Gertrude Bowling Simpson. He was a resident of Pinson Fork and a retired miner for Eastern Coal Company. Surviving are a son, Jerry Simpson, Hager Hill, a daughter, Carolyn Branham, Betsy Layne; one sister, Dixie Blevins, Offutt; a half-sister, Gertrude Preston, Paintsville; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10, in Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Curtis Johnson officiating. Burial was in Stapleton Cemetery, Tutor Key, with Preston Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
