John Anderson was born on November 9, 1940 in Harlan County, Kentucky, the son of the late James Melvin and Martha Boggs Anderson. He was united in marriage to Sheila Handley who survives. He is also survived by three sons, John Anderson, Jr. of Lakeland, Florida, Jeff Anderson and wife Kim of Richmond, Kentucky and Joel Anderson of Somerset, Kentucky, two brothers, Mark Anderson of Venice, Florida, Joseph Hassel Anderson and wife Sherry of Nicholasville, Kentucky, four sisters, Carolyn Bellows, Maeve Bennett, and Joyce Collins all of Columbus, Indiana and Charlotte Nantz and husband Randy of Franklin, Indiana, five grandchildren, Stephen and wife Ashley Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Michael and wife Rachel Anderson, Brandon Carr and Jamie Gray and wife Ashley, three great grandchildren, Channing, Cora and Landry Anderson, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Anderson and a sister, Joann Dodd.
He was a retired State Trooper, owner of Anderson Carpets in Richmond, a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Freedom Worship Center in Somerset.
John departed this life on Saturday, December 3, 2016, being 76 years and 24 days of age.
Funeral service will be Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Bowling Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Cathers officiating. Burial will follow in A R Dyche Memorial Park in London.
