"God Claims a Dear One. On Saturday morning at 5 o'clock, the 17th of February 1923, at the Mansfield Sanitarium, God called home the baby son, Cecil, of Mrs. Lucy Lafitte, the mother of ten children, all of age except Cecil who was ony 14.
He has undergone five weeks of great suffering which it seemed could not be helped. The doctors and nurses did all that was in their power to do for him, but God knew best and as Cecil was ready to go. He called him to heaven where he might rest in peace with Jesus and the blessed Angels.
We all miss Cecil as he was loved by all his relatives and by his school mates and a host of friends, but as we know he is at rest in Heaven we should not wish him back in this old sinful world.
He has always seemed as an older brother to me and I loved him as a brother, not as an Uncle. Last summer a year ago he gave Jesus his heart and looked upon him as a Trusting Savior and became a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church and has lived as s Christian ever since.
After his death he was left with the undertaker who carried him to the Mount Olivet Church where the ceremony was held, at which Brother H.R. Holcomb conducted the service and afterwards carried to Mount Olivet Cemetery where his body was laid to away. Cecil leaves to survive his death his mother and six brothers, those being Willie, Robert, Ernest, Ben, Albert, Clifton and three sisters". (paper clipping by unknown author)
