The Rev. T. A. Holder, the Rev. Richard Watts and the Rev. Lloyd Wolfe will officiate and burial will be in Bowman-Rector Cemetary, Marshall, North Carolina.
Pallbearers will be Vince Merrill, Conley Fender, Carl Rogers, Boyce Ramsey, Johnny Ball and Robert Watkinss. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of John Morrow Shop and the salvage department of American Enka Corp.
A Native of Madison County, Mr. Norton had resided in Buncombe County for the past 19 years. He was a member of Clayton Avenue Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He had been employed by American Enka Corp. for the past 25 years and was a member of the Enka Local No. 2598. He was the son of the late William Melvin and Ethel Sams Norton.
Surviving are the widow, Elizabeth Smith Norton; two daughters Martha Jean Norton (Hubert) Smith and Margaret Louise Norton (Everette) Pike both of Asheville. Two sons Grover Leroy Norton of the home and Benjamin Newitte (Sharon) Norton of Asheville. Three sisters, Ilene (Clyde) McKinney of Asheville, Fornada (Malley) Worley of Candler, Edith (Carl) Thorpe of Marshall. Two brothers, Woodrow (Thelma) Norton of Asheville and Lester (Dora) of Detroit, Michigan.
The family will receive friends at Anders-Rice Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
