Attention: looking at the 1870 census you'll see a David Bowles b. 1808.,this David is actually Joseph him self respectively, not David his cousin.


Joseph first marriage was to Suzanna Cerre, they had the fellowing children, Elizabeth Ann b. 1840, Caleb b. 1842 , David b. 1845. In the census for 1850 there are three children from his brother Caleb Bowles that died in 1836 and his wife Mary " Hearst " Bowles in 1840, so these children were farmed out to Joseph Bowles, Elizabeth Ann b. 1831, Mary Jane b. 1833, and Sophia Bowles b. 1836

Joseph married a second time to Mrs. Anna Lesson on 29 March 1849 in Jefferson Co. Missouri. Anna had one child known Jabez Lesson living with Joseph and his family in 1850 census.
