Ethel Elizabeth Ondo, 87, Homer City died Tuesday, November 29, 2016, peacefully at Indiana Regional Medical Center. The daughter of Paul and Mary (Sandusky) Sipos, she was born March 9, 1929 in Center Township.
Ethel was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana and the Christian Daughters of America. She was also a member of the American Cancer Society and the PEBTF Union. She frequently participated in various other charities, including the American Heart Association, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and contributed to the Humane Society of the United States.
Mrs. Ondo is retired from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she was employed for many years as a supervisor in the housing development.
She is survived by her children, Richard Ondo, Suzanne Mayes, Georgette and husband Brian Cline, daughters-in-law, Rebecca Ondo and her husband, Bernie Kalanavich, and Marlene (Poletto) Ondo; four grandchildren and their families: Gregory Ondo and his wife, Andrea, and their son, Dominick; Heather Ondo and children, LaVada and Justin, and their father, Rob Walbeck; Holly Benavidez and her children, Domingo and Zoey and Hillary and husband Grady Wegenberg; She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Evelyn Jack and many nieces and nephews and kind friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by her husband, George E. Ondo in 2011, sons, Edward and Michael Ondo, son-in-law, Jeffrey Mayes and grandson, Frank Benavidez.
Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing service will be held Saturday at 9:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana. Interment will be held in the Church Cemetery.
