EJ Hasty, 75, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday at his home. Surviving is his loving wife of 26 years, Linda Peavler Hasty. He was born March 2, 1941 in Rockcastle County to the late Eugene and Gertrude Hasty.

EJ was known to many for his heart of gold and his love for the Lord and his family. He was a staple of Garrard County owning Hasty's Grocery for over 42 years and served as Judge Executive for 8 years. He was a member of Drakes Creek Baptist Church.

Also surviving are two sons, Kardell Morris (Stacy) and Kaywood Morris (Debbie) both of Lancaster; a daughter, Lynea Major (Jason) of Lancaster; seven grandchildren: Dalton Morris, Luke Major, Karson Morris, Karli Morris, Adria Major, Mya Morris, and Kole Morris, all of Garrard County and a sister, Mary Jane Hasty of Rockcastle County.

EJ is preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Hasty and Eugene Hasty; and three sisters: Ruth Ella Rucker, Joyce Mink, and Ruby Mae Sparkman.

Funeral services are 1PM Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Kaywood Morris and Bro. Jerry Browning officiating. Burial in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 3:00-9:00 PM.

Pallbearers are Gary Cocanougher, Jason Major, Kardell Morris, George Day, Luke Major, Dalton Morris, Tom West, and Johnny Synder.

Honorary pallbearers are Clay Clark, James Warren, Homer Napier, Phil Murphy, Tony Lawless, Tommy Gill, and Roger Peavler.

Memorial contributions are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
