Memorial services for Mrs. Mary Louise (Cupp) Leatherwood, 93, former resident of Pleasanton and Angleton, will be held at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Houston at 11a.m. on December 16, 2016. The family graveside service and interment were at Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church Cemetery, Caldwell, Texas on November 27.
Mary Louise died Thursday, November 24, at Houston Hospice. She was born May 07, 1923 in the countryside of Burleson County, Texas to Robert Edgar Cupp and Ellie Faye Richardson. She lived with her sisters and their families after the early death of their mother. She met and married the love of her life, Gerald Paul Leatherwood on November 8, 1940 in Galena Park, Texas. She was a woman of many talents, but one of her strongest was the ability to love and make a home that nourished everyone. Softness and joy permeated everything about her. She loved and was loved by several Assemblies of God congregations that Gerald pastored, including Angleton for 28 years. Preceding her in death were her husband of 67 years, her parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother, and 4 half-siblings. Survivors include her children, Judy Leatherwood Smith and husband, Wayne, of Sugar Land, David Leatherwood and wife, Penny, of Ft. Worth, and Steven Leatherwood of Libertyville, Illinois; along with 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Houston Hospice in gratitude for their loving care during the last 8 months of her life. The website www.houstonhospice.org.
