When Violet Caroline Wilson was born in December 1811 in Polk County, Tennessee, her father, John, was 35 and her mother, Violet Porter Davis, was 27. She married William P. Brooks and they had two children together Jane Anna Brooks and Nancy A Brooks; they married brothers. Jane married William Bradford Smis and Nancy married James Warren Sims. She then married Hardy Sanders Barry and they had seven children together. They were Mary S, John M, Laura C, Fannie H, Harriet Adelaide, David Theodore, & James Hardy "Jim". She died on January 8, 1887, in Clarksville, Texas, at the age of 73, and was buried in Red River County, Texas.
