Charlie Daniels Sr., 96, of Varney, West Virginia, formerly of Glen Alum passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Mingo Manor Nursing Home at Williamson, West Virginia. Born at Glen Alum, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ples and Mary Mullins Daniels. Mr. Daniels was a Retired Railroad Worker for Norfolk and Western Railway. He was a Deacon at the Old Regular Baptist Church at Turkey Creek, Kentucky, for many years.

Proceeding him in death was his wife, Eunice Buchannon Daniels; 2 sons, Charlie and Burgess Daniels; 3 daughters, Janie Bennett, Ruby and Easter Mahon; 1 grandson,Russell Dewayne Daniels; and a great grandson, E-4 Specialist Danny Bruce Daniels Jr.

Survivors include 7 sons; 1 daughter; 1 brother; 27 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, West Virginia. Funeral services were conducted at the chapel Saturday, March 26, 2005 with the Elders Elbert Sesco, Richard Staton, Hobart Hamilton, Willie Blackburn, Lacy Walters and Bobby Scott officiating. Burial followed at the Daniels Family Cemetery at Glen Alum, West Virginia. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
