On Thursday, November 17, 2017, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Services for Robert L Brown will be today at 2:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Broome officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.

Robert was born June 19, 1927 in Lincoln County, the son of Jim and Lizzie Prestridge Brown. He was one of ten children. Many will remember Robert as owner of Brown's Shell Station and later Brown's Chevron which he owned until his retirement in 1988. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

He was a member of First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, John A Rogers, sisters, Louise Laird, Maxine Kelly, Gynell Bonds, and brothers George, Talmage, James, Ira, Troy and Truitt Brown.

Robert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margie Brown. One daughter Pat Hale and husband Bubba of Natchez, MS, one grandson, Robert Cory Rogers and wife Amanda of Charlotte, NC, granddaughter Jill Rogers Smith and husband Brent of Hernando, MS, one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Smith and one great- grandson, John Benjamin Rogers. Anyone that knew Robert knew that his grandchildren were the joy of his life. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews who were very special to him.

Pallbearers will be Cory Rogers, Brent Smith, Michael Brown, Maxie Brown , Alan Lipscomb and Ken Whittington. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Huff, Kevin Whittington, Mike Cloy, Ernest Barlow and Bubba Hale.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the ones who took such excellent care of him, Lisa King, and Heart2Heart Homecare especially Linzell Jones and Jessica Blanton.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church or the Adams County Humane Society.
