Mrs. Baker was born in Knox County Kentucky on January 2, 1934, to the late James Nelson and Bertha Reynolds Shelton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bearwallow Holiness Church. Mrs. Baker loved to sing in church, work Word-Search puzzles and watch “Law & Order”. She enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds, but most of all she loved her family. her first marriage was to frank sproles who was killed in a truck accident in 1960.
On April 12, 1962, she was united in marriage to Loyd Eldon Baker and they shared 54 years together.
Other survivors include her children, Wayne Sproles (Phyllis), Lloyd “Junebug” Baker (Kathy), Robert Renfro (Sharon), Bertha Hunter, Donna Rose (Marvin), and Francis Rains; 13 grandchildren, Christie Lewis (Kelly), Melissa Lamb (Keith), Amy Coffey (Harold), Whitney Hunter (Dane), Ryan B. Rose, Michael Sproles (Paula), Ashley Osborne (Richard), Angela Sproles, Ashley Allen (Josh), Katelyn Sulfridge (Nicolas), Austin Baker (Kennadi), James Still, and Amber Still; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Sproles.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2016, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Northern, Rev. Tommy Frazier, and Rev. Charles Whittamore. Burial will follow in the Gooch Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Wayne Sproles, Ryan B. Rose, Austin Baker, James Still, Nicholas Sulfridge, Josh Allen and Richard Osborne.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Junior Shelton, Eugene Shelton, Wesley Shelton, Michael Shelton, and Tommy Frazier.
