Mathew Edward Halterman, 71, of Quicksburg, Virginia, passed away Thursday morning November 17, 2016 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.

Mr. Halterman, a retired carpet installer, was born in Woodstock, VA on June 12, 1945 and was the son of the late Annie Marie Barb Funkhouser.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Didawick Heishman Halterman.

Mr. Halterman is survived by two sons, James Halterman of Quicksburg, with whom he made his home, and John Halterman of Maurertown; a sister, Shirley Green of Mt. Jackson; five grandchildren, Lexie Halterman, Jake Halterman, Heather Hodson, Justin Halterman and Emily Halterman; four step grandchildren, Tanner Boyce, Noella Mannus, Bradley Boyce and Aaron Carter; and a great granddaughter, Tinleigh Halterman.

He was predeceased by two great granddaughters, Isabella and Lilliana Hodson.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Theis Funeral Chapel, 9377 North Congress Street New Market, VA, will be handling the cremation arrangements.
