Dorland was born on July 14, 1944 in Robeline, La. And went home to be with his Lord July 4, 2012. He has made his home in Keithville with his beloved family for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, RV'ing, working in his shop and helping others. He retired from GM in 2009 after 27 years.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Iva Geter. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, "Jean" Geter; daughters, Melissa Kuehnemund; Tanya Williams and husband Bryant; sons, Chris Geter and Jeremy Geter; his father James Geter; two sisters, Loree Elkins and Frances James; grandchildren, Steven Williams; Ryan Williams and Olivia Kuehnemund.
Pallbearers are Kevin Coleman, Freddie Martin, Joel McVay and Adam Hall of Caddo Fire Dist. #4 and Alan Faircloth and Al Bogan. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Faircloth and Randy White.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to the members of Caddo Fire District #4 for their professional and loving care shown to Dorland on many occasions and their outstanding concern and dedication to their community. Also to his best friend Al Bogan for always being there.
