[Daughter of] N.E. Garfield and Celestia Ann Smith. Ruth was the eldest daughter of eight children and grew up on the family farm in Draper.

Graduated from Jordan High School in 1946 and married Arval [Park] Gordon the same year (September 9) in the [LDS] Salt Lake Temple; later divorced.

Ruth worked many years at EIMCO in bookkeeping and payroll. After retiring from her first career, she held several jobs to keep in touch socially. [She] loved her family and friends. She stayed busy and kept up an incredible social schedule. She was an avid gardener, reader, golfer, and quilter. She was an admitted fabric-aholic, who made quilts for all occasions. She completed over 100 quilts for family and friends (Obituary Salt Lake Tribune, January 2, 2007, adapted).

Arval and Ruth had 7 children. Four boys and three girls.

Thanks to Carl for the beautiful memorial done for Ruth.

Ruth was a wonderful cousin and friend. We all lived in the same town. We had wonderful Smith reunions where we all got to know each other. Her Mother was my Dad's big sister.
I love the whole Garfield family. They are very special people. I volunteer along with her sister Anne at the DHS.
So we keep in touch close with these two families.

REST IN SWEET ETERNAL PEACE DEAR RUTH. YOU ARE LOVED AND MISSED.
